Mighty Hits is light gun game for the Saturn that is similar in some ways to Namco’s popular arcade and PlayStation series Point Blank. It takes the form of a series of wacky mini-games that you can compete in on your own or against friends, but is far cuter than Namco’s title. Games include things like shooting model trains, balloons, rampant rabbits (not the Ann Summers kind!), birds and popping champagne bottles. The cuteness of the game is heightened further by the cartoon like intro at the start of game that tells the strange story of this title. I actually suggest watching this just for the pure weirdness of it all! Mighty Hits is a very typically Japanese game in both its looks and style but you can see why they choose to release it in the west - the huge fun factor! This can also be increased by the addition of extra players, as I already mentioned. Mighty Hits allows up to eight of you to compete against each other for the spoils! This makes it a fantastic party game and shows that the Nintendo Wii doesn’t have the monopoly when it comes to these types of games. Mighty Hits also has some very attractive graphics with a mix of 3D polygons and high-colour detailed backdrops. There are also lots of great music track and plenty of amusing sound effects, as you would expect in a game of this type. In all honesty Mighty Hits is not a game that you will play much on your own, so if you are strictly a solo Saturner then you should probably give it a miss. But if like getting your friends round for a retro party then this makes great use of the Virtua Gun and is unlike any other game for the system.
